Yeah, now I find a place where I can search for photos of different places around the world !
I looked at the Apps and I saw 2 Flickr Apps called 'Mappr' and 'Trippermap', and they made me think of us having similar app for the University and our library on Flickr.
Imagine if we have an app that has USYD campus maps, then we go and take a snapshot of -- say Fisher Library, and The Quadrangle etc., and upload them on Flickr. Then we use the mapping app to create the university's Photo Maps so that people can see the exterior of the buildings they are trying to find a way to. We can also take photos of different USYD libraries (both inside and outside the library), upload them on Flickr, and create 'Tag' particularly for each library. When people use the University's Photo Maps, they will be able to see the tags which can take them to a set of photos of different libraries!
In the university environment, I think the Creative Commons materials must be use for research, studying and teaching purposes only. I have seen some library materials which are the properties of academic staff that they provided to the library for the purpose of studying of the students they are teaching. I think this is a good example of Creative Commons materials. (Please correct me if I get the idea of Creative Commons materials wrong!)
I'll now try uploading some photos on my Flick...

I like your idea of using Flickr to create photo maps to inform and direct people to university buildings, facitlities etc. It could also be used by libraries to publicise displays, exhibitions, open-days and so on.
ReplyDeleteWow, what great ideas! Any ideas on a good forum to raise these?
